A forest sacred was arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ), suspected of setting fire in a forest. “The detainee, 58 years old, with no known criminal record, is an employee in a parish council, where he performs, among others, the functions of forest sacred”explains the PJ in a statement sent to the newsrooms this Sunday, October 5th.
The detention took place on Saturday, October 4, in Alvaiázere, and the crime occurred at dawn on this day. According to investigators, the suspect used a lighter and white access to the fire, which consumed 3500 m2 of forest zone. “Using a lighter and white lights, the woman fired the fire that consumed about 3500 m2 of densely populated forest zone by eucalyptus, adult brave pine, oak and bush”detach the PJ.
Also according to the authorities, this fire had “High potential to cause losses of human lives and very high losses, were it not for the prompt and effective intervention of firefighters“.
The detention took place through the PJ Center Board, “in close collaboration with the Litoral Center Ignitions Reduction Group, as well as the Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of the Republican National Guard (GNR) of Pombal and Leiria. The detainee will be brought to the court for the application of coercion measures.
