Former Prince Andrew arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office

Former Prince Andrew, now better known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, was detained on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to BBC.

According to the The Sunthe former member of the British royal family was arrested at his home in Sandringham, precisely on the day he celebrates his 66th birthday.

At least six cars, believed to be unmarked police vehicles, entered the Wood Farm estate, where the former prince has lived for almost three weeks, at around 8am.

Eight men, apparently plainclothes police officers, entered the property, with some carrying what are believed to be laptop computers provided by the police.

According to a statement issued by the police, “a man in his 60s from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office” and “searches are being carried out at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk”.

The authorities emphasize that they will not disclose the name of the detainee, “in accordance with national guidelines.”

“Following a thorough assessment, we have opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” said Deputy Chief Constable Oliver Wright. “It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged wrongdoing. We understand the strong public interest in this case and will provide updates in a timely manner,” he added.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is also being investigated in connection with the Epstein Case, which led the British Prime Minister to ask him this Thursday, via the BBC, to testify. “Anyone who has information should testify,” Keir Starmer said.
