Four injured on Delta Airlines flight hit by turbulence in Sydney

Four people were injured, all flight attendants, on a Delta Airlines flight traveling between Los Angeles and Sydney after the aircraft was hit by turbulence on the morning of Friday, March 20.

Delta Flight 41 “encountered brief turbulence” upon landing at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson told BBC.

Three people aged between 30 and 70 were taken to hospital with minor injuries such as back pain and headaches.

Incidents of planes hit by turbulence have been more frequent in recent times, with experts saying climate change has become a major factor.

On board the Airbus A350 were 245 passengers and 15 crew.

The plane landed “safely and normally” at Sydney Airport, Australia, at 6:48 am local time (7:48 pm on Thursday in Lisbon).

The New South Wales Ambulance Service said it received a call just three minutes before the aircraft landed, and that emergency vehicles were already waiting on the tarmac.
