ERLANGEN / LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – At the party conference of the Bavarian Greens, Franziska Brantner caused a stir with her sharp criticism of the mother’s pension and energy policy. She described the mother’s pension as an unjustified expense and instead called for investments in infrastructure and climate protection. The federal government’s energy policy was particularly the focus of their criticism, as it sees the strategy as dangerous for jobs in Germany.

Franziska Brantner, leader of the Green Party, gave a passionate speech at the state party conference of the Bavarian Greens in Erlangen in which she criticized the mother’s pension as an unjustified expense. She argued that the billions from special funds should be better invested in infrastructure and climate protection instead of flowing into election gifts. According to Brantner, these funds are ultimately hush money that cannot be justified with taxpayer money.

Brantner also found clear words in her criticism of the federal government’s energy policy. She condemned the government’s actions and in particular those of Federal Economics Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) as misguided. Brantner accused Reiche of endangering thousands of jobs in Germany with her strategy. She called for innovations to advance climate protection, which would also bring economic benefits for Germany. Instead, she accused the government of indulging in a “fossil planned economy.”

Brantner also sharply criticized the reform of citizens’ money. She described the months-long disputes within the coalition as a populist dispute at the expense of those in need. The debate is “pathetic” and important social policy reforms are being delayed in fruitless commissions.

Under pressure from the CSU, the Union and the SPD have agreed to regulate mothers’ pensions uniformly: all mothers should be entitled to three pension points, regardless of the year of birth of the children. This regulation is to be financed from tax revenue, whereas up to now the parenting periods for children born before 1992 have been taken less into account in the pension calculation.
