The celebrations of Day of the Dead return to the capital of the country with special activities created by the Secretary of Culture of Mexico City, with the aim of promoting healthy coexistence, respect for traditions and reflection on the importance of our beliefs. For this reason, the Government of Mexico City invites you to participate in the screening of “Zócalo: Souls and Shadows 2025”.

On October 25, the Zócalo will be transformed into a large movie theater open to the public and free of charge, so that citizens of all ages can enjoy four films emblematic of contemporary Mexican cinema with a Day of the Dead theme.
This cinematographic meeting is part of the cultural activities towards the Day of the Dead 2025 and seeks to bring together families, friends and entire communities around a film experience under the stars that celebrates our traditions.
The program will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the screening of Ana and Bruno (Carlos Carrera, 2017)an endearing animated film about imagination as a refuge from loss, recommended for all audiences.
At 7:00 p.m. a program of animated short films will be screened that includes Rain in the eyes (Rita Basulto, 2012) y Cerulia (Sofía Carrillo, 2017)two pieces that explore childhood, memories and the persistence of love beyond absence.
Finally, at 7:45 p.m., the public will be able to enjoy a special performance of Cronos (Guillermo del Toro, 1993)presented by Bertha Navarro and Alejandro Springall. Considered a key work of Mexican fantastic cinema, lThe film intertwines horror with tenderness in a gothic fable about the desire to overcome the passage of time.

Between Souls and Shadows will present films that draw a map of the Mexican spirit in the face of death and the unknown; stories where imagination, memory and affection intertwine to remind us that love and memories never disappear.
