Galp buys 17 wind farms in Spain for 320 million and reaches 2 GW of renewable capacity

Galp announced the acquisition, by the end of the second quarter, of 17 wind farms in Spain, in a deal valued at around 320 million euros and with a total installed capacity of 351 MW.

According to a statement released by the energy company this Thursday, April 9, the set of assets should generate, on average, around 750 GWh per year.

The operation is carried out with Helia funds — the joint platform of Plenium Partners and Bankinter Investment — although Galp has not disclosed the specific financial terms of the agreement with these partners.

With this purchase, the renewable energy installed by Galp reaches 2 GW, with wind production now representing approximately a quarter of the group’s total renewable energy.

Georgios Papadimitriou, executive vice-president responsible for renewable energy, highlighted that the transaction reflects the company’s long-term vision: “to grow in a disciplined way, with quality assets, and build a more diversified and resilient portfolio”.

The same person added that the combination of solar and wind reduces volatility, improves the production profile and reinforces the creation of sustainable value.
