ROME, Italy.- This Sunday, at least two people were injured and dozens were evacuated after a violent explosion in a liquefied gas tank in a home on the outskirts of Rome that destroyed three buildings, as confirmed by firefighters.

The explosion occurred at 12:50 local time (11:50 GMT) in a house in the peripheral neighborhood of Ponte Galeria, very close to the Roman airport of Fiumicino.

The cause, according to this source, was the explosion of a liquefied gas (LPG) tank.

The explosion not only destroyed the house where it originated but also three others in the surrounding area, and caused numerous damages to the cars parked in this area of ​​single-family homes.

Firefighters rescued two seriously injured people, who immediately received medical attention, and evacuated dozens of residents of the area, around 70 according to local media.

The agents continue with the search for possible victims of the explosion.
