“The message fits him like a glove”, said this Friday, March 27th, the general secretary of the PS, José Luís Carneiro, upon arrival at the Viseu Multipurpose Pavilion, where the 25th PS Congress is taking place until Sunday. The words were relative to the Government and made a allusion to the text that Cavaco Silva wrote in Expresswith a series of prescriptions for the Government and with warnings for socialists.
José Luís Carneiro, paraphrasing the former social-democratic prime minister, ended up explaining that “the Government does not govern, it does not reform”, in addition to being “falling where it should not fall”.
Asked about the message that, in the same text, Cavaco Silva left to the PS – stating that he believes “that, for the benefit of Portuguese democracy and the country, the PS will eventually realize that the framework of fundamental values and principles remains unchanged, but that the constraints of strategy, objectives and policy instruments change over time” –, José Luís Carneiro referred any idea for the speech he will give at the opening of the Congress, in a few moments, simply stating: “Our commitment is to Portugal, at all times in the life of our country.”
