“We actually had very significant losses. For example, in the Monastery of Batalha, we are talking about an intervention of more than one million and 300 thousand euros. If we think, for example, in the Convent of Christ, in Tomar, we are talking about an intervention of more than 500 thousand euros”he pointed out, also referring to damage to the Machado Castro National Museum, in Coimbra, and the Ajuda National Palace, in Lisbon.
Gonçalo Lopes confirmed that the objective is the rapid reopening of the castle, which is the “maximum exponent of municipal heritage”. “We have an intervention to be carried out in terms of accessibility and security, which are guaranteed with this investment of half a million euros”, he added.
According to the mayor, there is a budget proposal of around R$250,000 for the Casa do Guarda. “We agree that there are investments that are emergency, which is the case”, just as happened with schools.
