Gulf Med helicopters reach 1,000 flight hours in 639 missions

Gulf Med helicopters, at the service of INEM since July 2025, today they reached a thousand flight hours within the scope of the Medical Emergency Helicopter Service. It was during the 639th mission, carried out by the aircraft based in Loulé.

In a statement, Gulf Med Aviation Services, responsible for medical emergency helitransport, says that the thousandth flight hour was reached at 10:20 am as part of a mission carried out by the helicopter based in Loulé, which transported a 49-year-old patient from Alcoutim to Faro Hospital, where the aircraft landed at 11:07.

Since July 1, 2025, when Gulf Med began operations in Portugal on behalf of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), the four Airbus H145 helicopters carried out 639 missions and transported 387 patients.

Quoted in a statement, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Gulf Med, Simon J. Camilleri, highlights that the thousand hours of flight achieved today “result from a genuine commitment to this service, from committed and well-prepared teams technically and also the use of modern aircraft specially designed for this type of mission.”
