ANAUDI’s associated imaging units carried out 894,000 fewer diagnostic exams within the scope of the National Health Service (SNS) in 2025 than in the previous year, the association indicated this Monday (March 23).
In a statement, the National Association of Diagnostic Imaging Units publishes the results of a survey on the activity of its members last year, during which 3.6 million SUS users were served, compared to 4.7 million in 2024, and 5.8 million exams were carried out (6.7 million in the previous year).
The research results show “signs of retraction in the accredited network in 2025, which translate into a decrease in the number of acts carried out and users served, especially within the scope of the SUS, an evolution that fits into the critical context that the sector has experienced, marked by the prolonged outdatedness of the tables of acts and agreed values”.
According to the association, “despite the observed reduction”, examinations of SUS users continue “representing around 68% of the total procedures carried out” by the aforementioned radiology units.
In total, ANAUDI members performed in 2025 “around 8.5 million diagnostic procedures (…), covering approximately 5.2 million users”, which represents “a reduction compared to the previous year, in which around 9.7 million procedures had been recorded and 6.8 million users served”.
“The imaging diagnostic units employ around 10 thousand professionals”, says the statement, adding that “in economic terms, the sector generated, in 2025, revenue of around 290.9 million euros”.
ANAUDI also states that, since the beginning of the month, an updated table of agreed acts in the area of radiology has been in force, which its president, Eduardo Moniz, considers to be “a very relevant development for the sector”.
