Just one month after the start of the conflict initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran, the Yemen’s Houthi insurgency has announced its entry into the Iran war with the launch of his first missile against Israeli territory.
The Yemeni forces, traditional allies of Tehran, have confirmed this morning what the Israeli Army announced in the early hours of the morning: the beginning of a operation “in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the resistance fronts in Lebanon, Iraq and Palestineand in view of the continued military escalation, attacks on infrastructure and the perpetration of crimes and massacres against our brothers.”
In a televised statement, the spokesman for the military wing of the HouthisYahya Sarea, stated that the attacks were launched against “sensitive military targets” in southern Israel.
Thus, the Yemeni forces have ended up announcing “the first military operation with a bombardment of ballistic missiles directed against sensitive military targets of the Israeli enemy in the south of occupied Palestine.”
He Israeli Army has limited itself to confirming the interception of at least one missile in the south of the country, whose appearance in the airspace triggered alarm in Beersheba.
“This operation,” the Houthis add, “coincided with the heroic operations carried out by the Mujahideen brothers in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the operation successfully achieved its objectives thanks to Almighty God.”

The action of the Houthis cannot be considered a surprise since this Thursday, Its leader, Abdul Malik al Huti, advanced the group’s intentions.
“In the slightest event that requires a military response, we will intervene without hesitationas we have done before,” he said in statements reported by the news agency Sabacontrolled by the Yemeni rebels themselves.
In this sense, he assured that “Yemen will not hesitate when it comes to fulfilling its duty against the tyrants of our time: the Jews, the Zionists and their American arm. I declare that we will not hesitate and we will fulfill our Islamic duty of jihad, following the path of God“.
Strategic importance
The insurgents, in command of the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, and large regions of the country for a decade, occupy a position of strategic importance in this conflict, having missiles and drones capable of reaching southern Israel through the Red Sea or over Saudi Arabia or Jordan, whose defenses are currently dedicated to shooting down Iranian projectiles.
“Our operations, With the help of Almighty God, will continue until the declared objectives are achieved and until the aggression on all resistance fronts ceases“, conclude the Houthis.
The Yemeni insurgency is no stranger to direct conflict against Israel. During the Gaza warthe Houthis mounted a double campaign of attacks, first against Israeli territory – on which they launched more than 1,800 attacks – and then against shipping in the Red Sea as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
However, most of these attacks are intercepted by Israel without causing casualties or damage.
Between March and May 2025, EThe US began a month of bombings against Yemeni territory until the signing of a precarious ceasefire agreement with Omani mediation.
