‘I don’t see why I can’t be an actor’: Gustavo Petro, facing criticism for appearing in a film

The news that the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, participated in a period film, along with actor Cuba Gooding Jr., caused outrage in his country because it was filmed with public funds of up to 2 million dollars.

In this regard, Petro himself defended his participation by ensuring that he did not request to appear and that he only did so for a few seconds as an ‘extra’.

“Hahahahaha, I didn’t ask to participate, but I appear for about five seconds before a beautiful Jamaican dancer who charmed Montilla and Padilla at the same time.”

Likewise, the left-wing president made reference to other presidents who carried out activities outside their political responsibilities and did not receive as much criticism as him, as is the case of Javier Milei, the president of Argentina.

“I don’t see why some presidents can dedicate themselves to perpetuating themselves in power, others to being a DJ and I can’t be an actor or writer, especially if it is to launch higher levels of audiovisual art, research into our history, the role of blackness and indigenous people in our independence and knowledge of Colombia in the world,” he expressed.

Finally, he wrote that he had the opportunity to talk with the American actor’s girlfriend, Cuba Gooding Jr., with whom he shared scenes, who is a friend of Robert D’Niro, whom he said, he invited to visit Colombia.
