IGAS launches inspection of doctor suspected of disability pension scheme

The General Inspection of Health Activities (IGAS) announced this Friday, April 10, the launch of an inspection of the doctor suspected of charging around R$1,000 to facilitate disability retirement processes.

IGAS says, in a statement, that there are 22 suspected cases of Carris workers who resorted to the alleged scheme, which will now be subject to analysis.

The entity says it will identify all doctors who prepared reports and carried out examinations as part of these processes and determine which medical boards approved requests for disability retirement. The objective is to understand whether there was any fraud involving healthcare professionals.

It is worth noting that the Order of Doctors had already opened an investigation this Thursday into a doctor from Benavente, in the district of Santarém, for allegedly receiving undue funds to enable disability retirement.
