ATLANTA, Georgia. — This Monday, federal immigration agents they arrived at atlanta airportafter the US President Donald Trumpannounced the deployment of these elements to provide aid to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA, for its acronym in English), during a government shutdown that has caused long lines in the security checkpoints throughout the country.
Several federal agents arrived to attend to the crowded lines at the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Federal agents are a regular presence at international airports, where law enforcement agents Customs and Border Protection (CBP) screen arriving travelers and Homeland Security Investigations Office (HSI) handle criminal cases involving smuggling, trafficking, and fraud.
What is unusual at the current time is their visibility at TSA security checkpoints, a role typically performed by transportation security agents and not federal investigators.

Democrats continue to demand major changes to federal immigration operations — including policy changes that will require ICE agents to obtain a judge’s order before forcibly entering homes, eliminating the use of masks, and including clear identification on uniforms.
On Monday, Trump ordered ICE agents not wearing face coverings in his work at airports. In a social media post, Trump said he supports ICE agents cover their faces when dealing with “dangerous criminals”but suggested that it is not necessary when they help with the “DISASTER at the airports.”
