Integrar for Tourism Program launches second edition with goal of training 1,000 immigrants

On April 1st, registration will open for the second edition of the Integrar para o Turismo program. The initiative is aimed at immigrants who live in Portugal and are interested in working in this sector. The goal this year is to train 1,000 professionals.

This second edition was launched this morning, March 27th, when an overview of the program completed last year was presented. There were more than 655 graduates, of which approximately 330 were employed by companies after the internship.

The program received a total of 5,754 applications, the majority of citizens of Brazil. Among the changes in this new edition is the increase in internship time, from one to three months, divided into stages. According to Carlos Abade, president of Turismo de Portugal, this was a demand from companies, so that they could better evaluate the performance of professionals.

In total, the program will last six months. The first stage of training, in hotel and tourism schools, will take place from May to August. Between August and September, internships will take place. Then, until December, training continues, with internships that can extend until January.

According to Carlos Abade, the need for labor in the sector is growing, which reinforces the importance of initiatives such as Integrar para o Turismo. “There is an increasing need for coordination between the private and public sectors, and this program is particularly enlightening”he highlighted.

There is a goal of increasing the number of internship vacancies by 50% and, equally, professional integration by 50%. The new edition will feature increased content focused on employability and financial education, in addition to the Institute of Professional Education and Training (IEFP) as a partner.

Other The objective is to reinforce the stock exchange, with financial participation from partner companies. Assistance for uniforms, transportation and food vouchers is maintained, in addition to personal accident insurance. According to the organizers, a committee will also be created to monitor the program, in addition to personalized support for students.

Applications will be open until April 30th. Another new feature is that the website will have a reserved area for each candidate. The platform for companies will be available permanently, so they can have access to candidate profiles.
