Naval exercises between Russia and Iran are scheduled for this Thursday in the waters of the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean. Movements at the Base of Lajes
In addition to these movements, there are those observed at the Lajes Base, on the island of Terceira, in the Azores. According to what Lusa found on site, a greater movement of US military aircraft was recorded on Wednesday afternoon. According to the news agency, 11 KC-46 Pegasus refuelers, 12 F-16 Viper fighters and a C-17 Globemaster III military freighter were stationed at the military base.
“U.S. European Command regularly receives transiting U.S. aircraft and military personnel in accordance with access, basing and overflight agreements with allies and partners.”stated the North American Department of Defense in a written message, cited by Lusa. “Given the operational security of US assets and personnel, it is not possible to disclose further details at this time,” he added.
The Facebook page “Asas dos Açores”, which shares photos and videos of aircraft in the region, indicated an intensification in movements at the Lajes Base.
