Isaac Nader wins silver in the 1500m at the Short Track World Championships in Poland

Portuguese Isaac Nader won this Sunday the silver medal in the 1500 meters at the short track world championships, in Toruń, Poland, confirming the excellent form he is experiencing in the international middle distance elite. The final took place at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena, on the last day of the competition, which brought together some of the world’s best distance experts.

Nader completed the race in 3.40.06 minutesin a race of great tactical maturity. The Portuguese athlete always remained well positioned in the front group, avoiding running on the outside and controlling the pace set by his opponents, in a typical strategy for championship finalsmarked by a strong strategic component and decisions in the last meters.

In the final stretch, the national runner still discussed victory, but ended up not being able to overcome the Spaniard Mariano García, who secured the world title. Australian Adam Spencer finished in third place and completed the podium.

Despite being just a few meters away from the gold, Isaac Nader’s performance represents another result of great relevance for Brazilian athletics in global competitions, reinforcing the athlete’s status as one of the main international references in the 1,500 meters. The medal comes, moreover, following a particularly consistent season, consolidating Portugal’s presence among the protagonists of the world middle distance.
