Israel threatens to ‘follow, find and neutralize’ new supreme leader

Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen after the death of his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei, on February 28, on the first day of Israeli and US air strikes against Iran, which triggered a regional war.

Several figures linked to the Tehran regime have reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the same bombing that killed his father.

The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth also said that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured and probably disfigured, a version contradicted by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who, on Saturday, stated that “there is no problem with the new supreme leader”.

On Thursday, he delivered his first address to the nation, which was read by a presenter on Iranian television, indicating that officials appointed by Ali Khamenei should “continue to perform their duties.”

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented that he did not know whether the cleric was alive, urging him, if so, to surrender.

The US State Department has announced a reward of 10 million dollars (8.7 million euros) for information leading to the location of some of the main Iranian leaders, in particular the Revolutionary Guard, on a list that includes the new supreme leader.
