Jair Bolsonaro is stable, but his kidney function has worsened and he is not expected to leave the hospital

Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro remains stable following a bilateral bacterial pneumonia that forced him to be admitted to the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, but according to the clinical bulletin released this Saturday, March 14, the patient’s kidney function worsened, with tests showing an increase in inflammatory markers.

This Saturday’s information also says that “there is no forecast for discharge from the ICU at this time”.

In this sense, Jair Bolsonaro remains hospitalized to treat bilateral bacterial pneumonia which, according to the clinical report, resulted from bronchoaspiration, a procedure carried out after a reflux that took liquid from the stomach to the lungs.

The former president will continue treatment “with antibiotics and intravenous hydration, respiratory and motor physiotherapy, in addition to measures to prevent venous thrombosis.”

Leandro Echenique, the former president’s cardiologist, told Globo that the patient “is conscious” and “able to speak better”, and the respiratory discomfort he had been feeling has been “eased”.
