The Lacasa Group, owner of brands such as Truffles Lacasa and Conguitos, moved towards the acquisition of Lucar Producción y Distribuition, whose operation focuses on the production of cocoa-derived products, such as spreads.
In a press release, in which the amount involved is not revealed, the group clarifies that entered the company’s capital in 2020. At the moment, owns several brands of sweets based on cocoa.
Lucar Producción y Distribuition has an annual turnover of around six million euros, through the production and sale of spreads, tablets and cocoa powder. It focuses mainly on the Moroccan market, as it is based in Tangier, precisely in that country.
According to the group, The “quality and adaptation of products to local preferences” were crucial for the business, as those responsible want to scale the operation to international markets.
Furthermore, the group looks at Portugal as a crucial market for the business. The Portuguese market constitutes “a strategic contact point between the European market and the African continent that is essential for the company’s operationwhether due to the provenance or production of cocoa”, according to Manuela Tavares de Sousa, member of the Executive Board of Lacasa in Portugal.
