Mexico City. -A serious accident between two public transport units caused panic in the streets of the mayor’s office Gustavo A. Maderowhen one of them ended up crashing into a semi-fixed food stand, leaving at least ten people injured, including passengers, workers and diners.

The accident occurred around 10 in the morning at the intersection of Poniente 146 and Norte 35 avenues, in the Nueva Industrial Vallejo neighborhood. There, the trucks, one from the Naucalpan region and another from Cuautitlán Izcalli, collided while trying to gain passage at the intersection.

After the impact, one of the units lost control and was projected towards the sidewalk, running over a food stand where several customers were having breakfast, so Witnesses claim that some were sent flying, and that the owners of the establishment also suffered mishaps.

In a matter of minutes, elements of the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squad (ERUM) and paramedics from different corporations arrived at the site to provide care to the victims, and counted at least ten injured people, of whom four were transferred to the Magdalena de las Salinas Hospital.

The passengers of both units, which were traveling full at the time of the accident, indicated that the trucks were traveling at high speed.

In this regard, the two drivers were detained at the scene by local police and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministrywhile his responsibility in the events is determined.

Affected vendors reported that similar accidents have already been reported in the area due to the lack of speed bumps.
