Approved social support. Bloc motion for asset mobilization rejected

This Wednesday (8), at the City Council, the coalition of Carlos Moedas with the independent Ana Simões Silva, ex-Chega, approved “the opening of candidacies for the Integrative Unit project”, which will allow the reception of 40 homeless people”, announced the organization. It was also announced that financial support was approved for the Beato Temporary Accommodation Center and for the food response at the Military Maintenance Emergency Accommodation Center, measures launched by Maria Luísa Aldim, councilor for the CDS-PP, with responsibility for Innovation and Social Development.

At this Wednesday’s Chamber meeting, a proposal for a real estate project on Rua Braamcamp was also voted on, with a price per square meter of around 20 thousand euros, and the Bloco de Esquerda, which voted against, recalls that “the proposal does not comply with the urban rules in force, namely the Municipal Master Plan” and does not “contemplate any compensation for the municipality in affordable housing”, something that BE, PS and Livre have defended.

BE put forward a motion that was rejected by the coalition and Chega, which called for “the mobilization of the assets of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa for affordable housing”.

PCP attacks Pedro Mexia’s direct appointment and absence of April 25th celebration concert

The Portuguese Communist Party criticized the fact that, for the second year in a row, there is no concert to celebrate the 25th of April. “We understand that what was said by Chega’s municipal deputy at AML, regarding culture, is being taken literally, that ‘now it’s our turn to govern.” João Ferreira also protested that Gonçalo Reis had stated that it was “indifferent to him whether there were celebrations or not”, handing over this decision-making responsibility to EGEAC. In a similar sense, he pointed out the complaint about the choice of Pedro Mexia, new programmer for the 5L Festival, which was “direct and without a competition.”

The PCP also saw a motion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Constitution and the first democratic elections rejected and João Ferreira, despite reaffirming “the importance of democratic local power as a fundamental achievement of April”, received a negative response from Gonçalo Reis, vice-president who emphasized that the coalition “does not reflect on certain political considerations” of this same motion. João Ferreira also asks for additional answers to the question of lamps (see more here).
