Man drove two kilometers along the Porto Metro line

A 78-year-old man traveled this Monday, March 30, by car, along the metro line between the stations of Senhora da Hora, in Matosinhos, and Ramalde, in Porto, where he was intercepted by security guards, a Metro source revealed to Lusa.

According to the source, the car traveled on the railway for around two kilometers, passing through the Sete Bicas and Viso stations.

The alert was given at 1:50 pm and, according to the same source, as soon as the car was immobilized it was possible to see that the driver “appeared to be disoriented”, having been attended to by a team from the National Institute of Medical Emergency who then transported him to the hospital, he said.

The situation delayed circulation by around 15 minutes, the source added, revealing that the car was taken to the Ramalde station platform where it will wait until 1am on Tuesday to be removed by a tow truck, taking advantage of the fact that from that time onwards no trains run.

Circulation has, however, been reestablished, the source assured.
