In 2023, the Agrupamentos das Escolas de Marrazes, in Leiria, managed to put into practice a long-desired project: creating a welcome kit for immigrant students.
The motivation was the exponential growth in the number of foreign students enrolled in the three establishments that form the group. Currently, more than 500 of the approximately 2500 students are immigrants, the majority of them Brazilians.
The manual provides, in a playful and educational way, accessible information so that children can get used to it and learn more about the dynamics in the city and at school. It is translated into nine languages and also in Braille and has been requested by schools across the country who also wish to use it in their media.
