Military expert Brigadier General Hassan Jouni said that the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip comes as part of a strategy prepared in advance in the occupation army’s operations rooms, noting that this escalation “was more of an act than a reaction” to what happened east of Rafah in the south.
Johnny explained – during his analysis of the military scene in Gaza – that the Israeli security mind, as happened in southern Lebanon, “does not accept full commitment to a ceasefire,” considering that the occupation army exploits any security event as a pretext to implement its pre-prepared military plans and target a wide range of targets.
He pointed to the official Israeli discourse, which describes the bombing as “removing threats and infrastructure,” reflecting the security narrative and doctrine used by Israel in Lebanon and other fronts, as it uses security events to justify military operations.
He expressed his conviction that this approach makes it difficult to predict the stability of the ceasefire in the Strip, unless effective international guarantee mechanisms are put in place.
According to Johnny, “What happened in Rafah does not justify the comprehensive bombing of the Gaza Strip,” noting that the Israeli incursion into the region lacks guarantees that guarantee the non-recurrence of violations, as any limited violation of the ceasefire can be dealt with tactically without a comprehensive escalation.
On the ground, the occupation army said, on Sunday evening, that it had begun “re-implementing the ceasefire agreement after Hamas violated it,” indicating that it would “respond with strong force to every violation of it,” after it launched massive raids and implemented fire belts in several areas in the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources reported that more than 40 people were killed and dozens of others were injured throughout the besieged Palestinian Strip, as a result of violent raids that included targeting displaced persons’ tents, a school housing displaced persons, and a building where journalists worked.
The Israeli air and artillery bombardment targeted areas in Rafah and Khan Yunis (south), Nuseirat camp, and the town of Zawaida (central Gaza Strip), as well as in Jabalia (north), after the occupation army claimed that Palestinian fighters attacked its engineering vehicles in Rafah.
