The first appointments of the President of the Republic António José Seguro, published this Wednesday, March 25th, in the Official Gazette of the Union, include a mix of reappointments from Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s Civil House with figures involved in his candidacy and linked to the PS.
An emblematic case is that of Civil House advisor Rita Saias, former president of the National Youth Council, who was already a consultant to the former President of the Republic, but was also a youth representative for António José Seguro. Also appointed as advisor was Luís Sobral, his press advisor during the campaign for the presidential elections.
Marco Almeida, linked to the PSD of Odivelas, and Ricardo Branco, who will work with the third Head of State in his career, also remain in the communication team of the Presidency of the Republic.as he had already moved from the Cavaco Silva Civil House.
Among the newcomers to the Belém Palace, Florinda Cruz stands out, who led the support office for Basílio Horta when the mayor elected by the PS was president of the Chamber of Sintrahaving become president of the company Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua. With many appointments yet to be formalized, they were also revealedin the set of orders published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Union, but dated March 9th. the choices of Susana Martins da Silva and Madalena Pais Madureira as secretaries of the President of the Republic’s officeas well as the appointment of six other secretaries to the Civil House. Both have experience in the Assembly of the Republic, namely in the socialist parliamentary group.
