Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen as Iran’s supreme guide to succeed his father, Ali Khamenei, who died on the first day of the attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, the Islamic country’s Assembly of Experts announced on Sunday.
“Ayatollah Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (…) is appointed and presented as the third guide of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the basis of a decisive vote of the respected members of the Assembly of Experts,” the organization indicates in a statement released by the Iranian media.
