National media reaction: Bills beat Jaguars 27-24 in 2026 Wild Card Weekend thriller

Jacksonville, Fla. – There was no shortage of people in the media counting on the Buffalo Bills for Wild Card Weekend.

Josh Allen and company reminded them all why they should never be counted out. Against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that entered Sunday on a four-game winning streak, Buffalo outscored Jacksonville in all three phases of the game and walked away with a 27-24 victory.

Allen was masterful throughout the game, but especially when the team needed him the most. When last on sundayAllen completed 14 of 16 passes for 195 total yards and three touchdowns. His passer rating while watching was an absurd 133.1.

It wasn’t just Allen on offense. Khalil Shakir caught all 12 of his targets, Brandin Cooks continued to make plays downfield and Buffalo made some clutch catches. Even Keon Coleman, a second-year pro who had a memorable season, added a key grab down the sideline to set up a touchdown.

Defensively, Tre’Davious White and Shaq Thompson started for the Bills. The two veterans, who were written off due to injury and age, made some game-changing plays. White had three passes defensed in the win, including one that led to Cole Bishop’s game-sealing interception. Thompson had an interception in the first half of the game and made a tackle on Trevor Lawrence that led to a turnover on downs.

The same can be said for the special teams unit. Matt Prater was perfect in the game after coming off a right quad injury. Cam Little, despite his massive leg, couldn’t say the same.

After getting major contributions in all three phases, here’s what the national media had to say about the players who lined up for the Bills.

Chase Daniel

Jon Gruden

Dan Orlovsky

Marcel Louis-Jacques

Art Stapleton

Ian Hartitz
