Syracuse, NY – Nearly half of the arrivals and departures at Syracuse Airport were canceled Sunday morning as a massive winter storm hit the nation.
Twenty-one of 48 departing flights were canceled as of 7:30 a.m., according to Syracuse Hancock International Airport’s flight status board. This applies to flights after noon.
It’s a similar story for arrivals: 18 out of 38 are cancelled.
More than 4,000 flights were canceled across the country, according to Reuters.
Upstate New York is expected to get 1 to 2 feet of snow by Monday morning, the National Weather Service warns. The snow will be more intense today, with 12 or more inches possible in 12 hours.
The storm, one of the nation’s strongest in years, knocked out power to thousands in the south.
