Israel’s National Security Advisor, Tzachi Hanegbi, was fired from his position, he himself revealed this Tuesday, October 21, after being informed of the decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu informed me today of his intention to appoint a new head of the National Security Council”declared Hanegbi in a statement, indicating that his mandate, which has lasted since the beginning of 2023, ends this Tuesday.
On the same note, the outgoing advisor assumes his share of responsibility for the “terrible failure of October 7th”, referring to the massacres carried out in 2023 by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in southern Israel, which triggered the war in the last two years in the Gaza Strip.
Hanegbi argued that the attack by Palestinian militias “must be investigated thoroughly to ensure that necessary lessons are learned” and to help “restore shattered confidence”.
