Noelia Castillo Ramos managed to access euthanasia in Spainbut his case became relevant because of its life, legal fall and fight.
The name of Noelia Castillo Ramos, a young woman from 25 years old originating from Barcelonawho is this Thursday March 26 It will have its outcome through euthanasia.
Marked by life
His life was marked October 4, 2022 when she suffered multiple assaults by her ex-boyfriend and three other subjects. The damage did not only remain there, since, faced with the event, Noelia decided to end her existence in this world and threw herself from the fifth floor.
She survived, but there were consequences from the fall which caused her to become paraplegic, after suffering a complete spinal cord injury, a life condition that limited her mobility, but also deteriorated her quality of life since she began to suffer intense neuropathic pain, as well as incontinence.

Given the situation, Noelia Castillo Ramos decided to resort to euthanasia in 2024, something that is allowed according to current legislation in Spain. His case was evaluated and specialist doctors approved the request and he even received the support of the Guarantee and Evaluation Commission of Cataloniawhich determined that it complied with all legal and health requirements and set the July 18, 2024 for euthanasia.
Almost 2 years of legal dispute with his father
But the young Catalan woman encountered a wall, her father, who opposed his daughter’s decision and so much so that he presented several legal appeals to stop euthanasia and had the support of the Christian Lawyers organization.
This is how his legal downfall began, but the case transcended and the courts in Cataloniawith the endorsement of Supreme Courtruled in favor of Noelia Castillo to grant her the right to euthanasia.
The family opposition escalated and presented more resources to prevent the procedure, so the legal provision continued in the Constitutional Courtan instance that rejected the legal arguments of Ramos’s family, since it was considered that they did not find violations of fundamental rights.
The case did not stop there, since the young woman’s relatives requested the European Court of Human Rightsin Strasbourga precautionary measure to stop the euthanasia of Noelia Castillo.
However, after 20 months of legal disputedelays in the case and emotional exhaustion that Noelia Castillo Ramos already had, the appeal for the precautionary measure that stopped the procedure was rejected in March 2026thus closing any legal recourse before any legal authority to prevent the young woman’s right to euthanasia.
Finally this Thursday, March 26, the procedure will be carried out.
Noelia Castillo Ramos speaks for the first time about her euthanasia case
After the resolution, Noelia decided to speak for the first time, not only about her case, but also about her struggle and she did so in an interview for Antenna 3.
“I have always felt alone… I don’t want anything (…) None of my family is in favor, but the happiness of a father does not have to be above that of a daughter or the life of a daughter (…) I leave them suffering. But what about my suffering?”, he commented.
He also attended the interview Yolanda Ramos, Noelia’s motherwho revealed that he was not satisfied, but has had an evolution in his initial decision:
“I am not satisfied, but I will always be by your side“said Yolanda, who added that she will be with her daughter until the end.

Regarding the breakup she suffered with her father, the young woman said that she even told him that “For him she was already dead”.
For this Thursday, it is expected that the euthanasia of Noelia Castillo Ramos will begin with sedation and after that she will be administered the substance that will put an end to her existence in this world, but prior to that the young woman requested as a last request that “The family can come to say goodbye, but not when they are going to give me the injection“.
