Pakistan urges US and Iran to maintain ceasefire

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan urged on Sunday USA e Iran to maintain their truce agreement, after their negotiations concluded without an agreement to end the war in Middle East.

“It is imperative that the parties continue to respect their commitment to a ceasefire,” declared the Pakistani foreign minister. Ishaq Darwhose government hosted the negotiations and served as mediator.

Washington y Tehran agreed to a two-week truce while negotiating a lasting peace agreement in the Middle East war, unleashed by February 28 with the attacks of the United States and Israel against Iran.

But peace talks between the United States and Iran ended Sunday without an agreement.

“Pakistan has played and will continue to play its role as a facilitator of dialogue between the Islamic Republic of Iran y United States of America in the days to come,” Dar said in a brief broadcast on state television.

US and Iran without reaching an agreement

The vice president of the United States, JD Vancedeclared that talks with Iran failed to reach an agreement, and stated that he was leaving Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, after presenting a “best and final offer.”

Vance hinted that he was still giving Iran time to consider the offer from the United States, which announced on Tuesday that it would suspend attacks on Israel for two weeks awaiting negotiations.

“We are leaving here with a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that constitutes our final and best offer. We will see if the Iranians accept it,” Vance told reporters after 21 hours of talks in the Pakistani capital.

Vance claimed that the main dispute revolved around nuclear weapons. Iran insists it is not developing an atomic bomb, and the United States and Israel bombed strategic Iranian targets both in the war that began on February 28 and last year.
