In a performance for the ages, the fifth-seeded Wildcats shot an impressive 40-of-67 from the floor Thursday night at RAC Arena, including 15-of-27 from 3-point range.
Now 16-10 for the season, the Cats sprinted away from the ninth-ranked Taipans (7-19) after being gutted 38-13 in the third quarter.
Elijah Pepper with a career-high 25 points and 6-of-7 three-pointers, Kristian Doolittle (19, 3-of-3) and Dylan Windler (15, 3-of-6) led their long-distance offense.
“The boys found me and I have a few,” Pepper said.
“It just kept going in.
“I feel like we’re playing more consistent basketball, and that’s always great, especially this time of the season when we’re fighting for a finals spot and a good seed.”
Jack McVeigh (34 points, 8 of 15 3-pointers) was the only Taipan to reach double figures.
