The Judiciary Police (PJ) carried out searches at the premises of a Madeira Regional Secretariat, at a public institute and at the headquarters of a commercial company, on Tuesday, it was announced this Thursday (March 19).
“At issue are crimes of economic participation in business and abuse of power related to the acquisition (subscription) of a computer service for managing the life cycle of administrative offense procedures and managing the offender’s history”, indicates the PJ, in a note sent to newsrooms.
The police also say that, on Wednesday, searches were carried out in a Municipal Chamber in the autonomous region, without specifying which one, to “collect elements related to the practice of crimes of malfeasance and abuse of power, related to tampering with common competitive procedures for filling jobs in the technical assistant career”.
Both investigations are the responsibility of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Funchal, with 10 criminal investigators, several teams of computer experts and a magistrate from the Public Prosecutor’s Office taking part in the police operations.
