A Portuguese handball team wonon the night of Friday March 20th, a Czechia 35-32 in the Cidade de Tondela Trophyin an important preparation meeting for the 2027 World Cup, confirming positive signs in the evolution of the team coached by Paulo Jorge Pereira
The match started out balanced, with the Czech team starting better and taking the lead in the first minutes, in a start marked by successive alternations on the scoreboard. The team coached by Daniel Kubes then managed to gain some momentum, largely thanks to the offensive efficiency and the interventions of goalkeeper Jan Hrdlička, which made it difficult for the Portuguese to approach during a phase of the first half.
Portugal reacted in the middle of the first half and managed to reduce the deficit around 20 minutesdriven by a series of effective attacks and good defenses from Gustavo Capdeville. Even before the break, there were three goals from seven meters: Diogo Oliveira scored for Portugal and Dominik Skopár converted twice for the Czech Republic. In the last minute of the first half, the team equalized the score and even managed to return to the locker room with an 18-17 advantage.
