Deco Proteste’s basic basket of 63 products rose to R$254.99 this week, an increase of R$0.60 compared to the previous week and the highest value recorded since monitoring began in January 2022.
Despite this weekly maximum, the accumulated evolution shows different readings: since January this year the basket has been 13.17 euros cheaper (-5.45%), compared to the same period in 2024, a reduction of 16.49 euros (-6.92%) remains, while compared to the beginning of 2022 the current cost is 67.29 euros higher (+35.85%).
Analyzing the recent variation from March 25th to April 1st, the biggest percentage increases were recorded in horse mackerel (+29%, to R$5.81), chucha tomatoes (+24%, to R$3.6024) and cauliflower (+17%, to R$3.12).
In the annual comparison, increases stand out in products such as kale (+57%, to R$2.08), zucchini (+54%, to R$2.70) and sea bass (+38%, to R$10.24/kg).
The balance since the beginning of the Deco series shows structural changes in prices. Beef for cooking, for example, accumulated the biggest percentage increase (+124%, to R$13.04/kg), followed by cabbage (+109%, to R$2.08/kg) and eggs (+84%, to R$2.10).
The basket includes essential categories such as meat, frozen foods, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, grocery and fish — with representative items such as turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese and butter — so specific variations in some references directly impact the cost perceived by consumers.
