PS Congress. Carneiro is open to changes in labor law, but “everything is contrary to the government”

In the final stretch of the 25th PS Congress, in Viseu, José Luís Carneiro, argued that, “in justice, slowness must be combated”.

“We propose clear goals to reduce procedural delays, particularly in administrative and fiscal courts”, he assured, while stating that the party is prepared “for an extensive dialogue with all actors in the judicial system to improve criminal justice by ensuring greater transparency, accountability and security in the delivery of justice”.

Therefore, the socialist leader assured, “by the end of May, the PS will present its vision for the reform” of justice, which will count on “everyone’s effort”.

“We are proud to have contributed to the strengthening of criminal investigation means and we were even at the origin of the decision for the widespread loss of unjustified heritage assets”, recalled the secretary general of the PS, warning however that “corruption is one of the biggest enemies of our democracy and trust in institutions”.

“We propose the immediate reinforcement of the means used in the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, approved by a PS Government”, he promised.

“What we propose requires a Socialist Party that is more open, participatory and close to the people. A party that welcomes new generations and dialogues with the world of work, business, science, culture and innovation”, he justified, while describing the PS as a party of “responsible, constructive, but firm opposition”.

“We are not looking for political instability, but we will not remain silent in the face of the Government’s mistakes”, he insisted, before highlighting that this work will be done “with all socialists and others who love democracy who say yes in this phase of restart”.

“And that they commit to the journey that will culminate in victory in the next legislative elections”, he concluded.
