The number of public administration workers increased by 1.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025, to 766,278, reaching the highest value since the last quarter of 2011, according to data released this Friday, February 13, by the Directorate-General for Administration and Public Employment (DGAEP).
“On December 31, 2025, employment in the public administration sector was at 766,278 jobs”, which represents an increase of 1.7% (12,721 more jobs), according to the Public Employment Statistical Summary, released by DGAEP.
The number of public employees thus returned to renewing the maximum figures of the statistical series, which began in the last quarter of 2011.
“In relation to December 31, 2011 (beginning of the series), the increase was 38,577 jobs (+5.3%)”, says the text.
Compared to the previous quarter, there was an increase of 0.9%, equivalent to an increase of 6,841 jobs.
