Race-by-race tips and preview for Rosehill on Saturday

The small pitch and conditions come into play. 5. Kiss of the Mist he showed he’s doing well this time when he finished second fourth at Randwick three weeks ago and she’ll like the softer ground a lot better. With low numbers, she won’t be giving away as many starts as usual and this is a good chance for her to introduce herself. 2. Unspoken worked his way to the win and found the line well behind in the Summer Cup when he was third. Up here in weight and while he probably doesn’t want to go heavy, he’s dangerous at anything better. 3. Imperialist boxed well on a testing ground three runs back at Randwick, was sound in the Summer Cup although Unspoken came from behind to beat him home. Expect him to run well. 4. Touristic he has had a stop-start campaign with just two runs and will appreciate the forgiving trail after running Unspoken last time out but was unable to keep it on a tight track. He could surprise.
How to play it: Kiss of the Mist to win.

Race 6: THANK YOU NOEL CUTHBERT HANDICAP (1500 METRES) 3.30pm

We will be happy to stay with you 5. Alabama Fox after doing the job with ease at Randwick two weeks ago, she sat on the speed and won at will. It only picks up 2.5kg on the approach, seems fine on all terrain and has plenty of time to find a spot with long cornering reach. The one to beat again. 3. Color change returns to Rosehill where she won and finished second at two starts, including a nice first. Only a fair second but dishonored, beaten by a couple of lengths and could have easily bounced back. 8. Stone of Aroha was an easy first-up winner in the provincials, then came to town in the same race as Changing Colors and was taken out of the running and eased down the straight, which explains the big overshoot. Get over it, she loves the sting and can be competitive. 6. Editing has been a bit of a disappointment but her best run this time around came on a tough track at Kembla Grange three starts ago so a wet track would see her straight into it.
How to play it: Alabama Fox will win.

Race 7: RANVET HANDICAP (2400 METRES) 4:05 p.m

It’s always a bit of a heart in the mouth while watching 7. Donations but he races in excellent form and loves the sting off the track. Having been suspended two starts ago at this distance, he should probably win at Randwick a month ago until it’s over. He’ll come back in the field a bit, but if he’s in contact on the turn, he’ll get close. 6. Beautiful mountain was too far back in a tight field last time at Randwick over 2000m and did good work to finish fifth. The way she runs you’d think the trip would suit her and she’s in the mix here. 12. Ant could be a big improvement, was disappointing last time but his second run suggested he’s back in order and the increase in distance in the last prep will suit him. 11. Peaceful pearl she won that race at 2000m at Randwick and won over 2200m so the distance won’t be beyond her. We have a small question mark if we get really wet, but otherwise there is a chance.
How to play it: The best power to win.

Race 8: KIA ORA BLOODLINES TO HEADLINES HANDICAP (1300 METRES) 4.40pm

5. Band Of Brothers brings some nifty form to Sydney with a close second to Tuned two runs back and the sound of putting a wide gate at Eagle Farm two weeks ago. If hurdle one holds up, that’s a plus for him, as is the 3kg claim, and he should run well in a race that’s open. 4. Rhythm of love he was treading water for a while after scrambling late from his scheduled first run. He’s back in trials and won nicely at 1200m, handles all ground and tends to run well fresh so there’s a good case for him. 6. Just Party goes into the mix, is hard to win and it’s fair to say he had a chance at Randwick over a mile in a small field. Down in the classroom and at a distance and with the blinkers on, you can’t leave him out right away yet.
How to play it: Band Of Brothers win.

Race 9: ASAHI SUPER DRY HANDICAP (1100 METRES) 5.20pm

7. Bev’s Nine he has done no wrong with three wins from as many starts and on different surfaces. He looks to have bounced back well with two wins in trials he has led, can be prominent from a good draw and is a horse on the way up. A good chance to continue his winning ways. 3. Gatsby’s he can be very dangerous if running from behind as his first run behind Joe Pride was quite promising. He has done well in the past and if he can improve on this fresh effort, he has some chance. 1. Fire eye he won this race, marking a return to form for him. He’s only up 1kg after the claim and is generally a consistent type when on form so can be expected to be there again. 9. Art’s Alive ran a close third at the last soft track roundup at this track and is doing well with a second behind Bev’s Nine in the last of these. One to watch out for.
How to play it: Bev’s Nine wins.

Race 10: HANDICAP TAB (1500 METRES) 6pm

7. Cross of the Tasman is a promising horse and this time he was too good in his two runs back when he beat the outside gate to get off Off The Press at Randwick on Boxing Day. The extra 200m shouldn’t be a concern, it’s nicely drawn and the soft track would definitely not be a problem, especially now third. Hard to beat. 16. Hereward is another progressive type and also has a hat-trick with wins at Canterbury and Randwick. Don’t think the wet track will worry him, he will go forward and can be difficult to pass. 1. Pippi Beach can pose a big threat now third after two nice runs on good tracks and much more favorable conditions for her now. The wetter the better, actually. Keep her in mind. 9. Pure alpha ran a fair race to sum up but has a much stronger second place and some useful credentials with some to give in the country. He never won on a good track. It may turn out.
How to play it: Tasman cross to win.
