The Theatro Municipal de São Paulo announced last Sunday (22), the return of the São Paulo City Ballet to Portugal. The Brazilian company performs at the Teatro Municipal do Porto with the show “Encruzilhada”, with choreography by Renan Martins, on the 8th and 9th of April, part of the program of the DDD Festival – Dias da Dança.
The performances take place at 9:30 pm, in the Grand Auditorium of Rivoli, and are part of the group’s international circulation, which returns to perform in Europe with a recent work from its repertoire. The work proposes an investigation into the collective movement, exploring relationships of encounter, tension and negotiation between the performers on stage.

Created by Renan Martins, “Encruzilhada” brings together references from popular dances, gestures from the collective imagination and different body archives. The choreography brings to the stage practices that rarely occupy traditional spaces, bringing different languages and contexts together in the same scenic proposal.
In the show, the collective appears as the central axis, not as an ideal, but as a practice in constant construction. The dancers work based on dynamics of listening, friction and coexistence, while the public follows the development of the work in real time.
Tickets for the show “Encruzilhada” cost €12 and the play lasts 1h20. Tickets can be purchased through from this link.
