The Ministry of Public Education (SEP), through the General Directorate of Professions (DGP), announced the implementation of the Certificate of Professional Status (CSP), a digital document that allows you to consult the academic history and credentials of professional people.
Through a statement, he indicated that this mechanism responds to the mandate to promote the greatest digital transformation in the history of the country and compliance with the new national law to eliminate bureaucratic procedures, which is why it is available on the site. cedulaprofesional.sep.gob.mx/cedula-profesional.
The Certificate of Professional Status will also allow you to verify that professionals specializing in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery have a current professional license.
For this, the internet portal cedulaprofesional.sep.gob.mx/cedula-profesional/certificaciones suggested that for greater safety and confidence, before undergoing any plastic, aesthetic or reconstructive surgery procedure, it should be verified that the doctor has the necessary and corresponding accreditations.
Given this, The General Directorate of Professions recommended confirming that the professional has all the documents that endorse him as a specialist in order to guarantee that the procedure is performed under the highest standards of ethics, quality and safety for the patient, reducing health risks.
In this sense, he asked patients to request that their plastic surgeon have a professional license for a general practitioner, issued by the General Directorate of Professions, and a professional license for a specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and/or Reconstructive Surgery, also issued by the General Directorate of Professions.
As well as with a current specialty Certificate, granted by the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, AC, recognized by the National Regulatory Committee of Councils of Medical Specialties, AC (https://conacem.org.mx/).
Proof of Professional Status seeks to reduce fraud and forgery
The CSP registers not only the professional license, but also the membership, microcredentials, certificates and transversal skills, “strengthening security and authenticity in professional practice.”

The SEP explained that the document replaces paper processes and will function as a verifiable digital professional resume, which will favor employability, educational mobility and access to scholarships.
He added that its design allows for the formal recognition of the specific capabilities, skills and knowledge acquired by professionals throughout their careers.
Furthermore, he recalled that, in 80 years of operation, the General Directorate of Professions has registered more than 15 million IDs and with the digital transformation process, the SEP plans to issue 15 million certifications and microcredenciales additionalthanks to collaboration with educational institutions, certifying entities and business organizations.
He added that this free digital platform has been widely accepted, exceeding 800 thousand downloads and two million queries in less than a month.and emphasized that the SEP works so that professionals, institutions and companies incorporate certifications linked to the strategic sectors of Plan Mexico, strengthening the training of more and better professionals.
