A seven-ton meteor crossed the sky of the American state of Cleveland this Tuesday, March 17, at around 72.4 kilometers per hour before disintegrating, causing a deafening boom that scared local residents.
People from other US states reported seeing the fireball, and some videos were shared on social media.
NASA later confirmed that it was a meteor measuring almost 1.83 meters in diameter. “This one really looks like a fireball, which means it’s a meteorite – a small asteroid,” said astronomer Carl Hergenrother, the group’s executive director.
