Raquel Buenrostro exhibits Fonden irregularities
Raquel Buenrostro presented a report on Fonden’s irregularities in the governments of Fox, Calderón and Peña Nieto, which she described as an “inoperative, opaque and bureaucratic” system.
He pointed out that the resources took up to 120 days to reach those affected and that there were multiple cases of corruption.
He highlighted that with the elimination of the trust in 2021, disaster response became faster and more direct.
Under the current administration, he stated, aid has been delivered in just 13 days, with greater efficiency and fewer resources.
Public resources are no longer provided for the Mexican GP: Sheinbaum
The President of Mexico assured that the Federal Government no longer allocates public resources to the Mexican Grand Prix. He explained that during the Peña Nieto and Mancera governments, part of the event was financed, but currently the costs are borne by a group of businessmen, while the capital government only provides logistical and security support.
He highlighted that Formula 1 generates significant economic benefits for Mexico City.
In the Segalmex case there are about 27 former officials in jail
Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated that there will be no impunity in cases of corruption, such as that of Segalmex, where an embezzlement of 15 billion pesos was detected.
Secretary Raquel Buenrostro reported that there are around 27 former officials detained and several arrest warrants.
Regarding former director Ignacio Ovalle, he indicated that the investigation is in the hands of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
Mexico avoids commenting on Trump’s sudden break with Canada: “We are going to wait”
Sheinbaum avoided commenting on the suspension of trade negotiations between the United States and Canada, announced by Donald Trump. He assured that Mexico maintains significant progress in its talks with Washington and that Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will go to APEC in South Korea to close agreements.
He pointed out that the country continues working on the review of the T-MEC, despite tariff tensions imposed by the US government.
Claudia Sheinbaum presents her book
Claudia Sheinbaum presented her book “Diary of a Historical Transition”298 pages, published by Planeta. The work collects personal notes about the presidential transition process and pays tribute to Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Sheinbaum explained that he wrote the book based on notes taken during that period and expressed that it is a reflection of his commitment and love for Mexico. The copy is now available in bookstores for 298 pesos.
Ariadna Montiel reports more than 92 thousand registered homes
The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, reported that 92 thousand homes have been censused in 119 municipalities in the five affected states.
The census has already concluded in Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Puebla, while it continues in Veracruz and Hidalgo.
Support of 20 thousand pesos and vouchers for groceries and household goods are provided.
President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted the work of the nation’s servants and the Secretariats of the Navy and Defense in caring for victims.
They present advances in care for communities affected after rains
The head of the SICT, Jesús Esteva, reported that communication has already been restored in 202 of the 288 communities affected by rains in Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz.
He noted that the federal network is fully operational, electricity has been restored to 99.79% and 360 roads have been freed.
In addition, more than 92 thousand homes have been censused and 342 thousand food supplies and 333 thousand vaccines have been delivered, with the participation of 53 thousand public servants.
