Sporting beats Benfica and guarantees sixth consecutive presence in the final four in the futsal Champions League

This Friday, March 6, Sporting guaranteed its sixth consecutive presence in the final four of the futsal Champions League, beating Benfica 7-4, in the second leg of the quarter-finals, recovering from the defeat recorded at the home of the national champions.

At Pavilhão João Rocha, in Lisbon, the lions, who lost 4-3 in the first game, reached half-time winning 4-2, following goals from Bernardo Paçó, in the first minute, Bruno Pinto (03), from a penalty, Wesley França (05) and Tomás Paçó (06), with Silvestre Ferreira (13) and Arthur (16) reducing for the reds.

Benfica, who leads the Portuguese League, equalized the tie in the first minute of the second half through André Coelho, Tomás Paçó scored twice, in the 23rd, and gave the lions an advantage again, canceled out by Emerson Santos, in the 26th.

Diogo Santos, at 29, and Bruno Pinto, who also scored twice, at 30, guaranteed Sporting’s triumph, in a match in which Benfica fans Pany Varela and Arthur were sent off, after three and 30 minutes, respectively.

Already final four of the Champions League, to be played in Pesaro, Italy, between May 8th and 10th, Sporting, which has two Champions League trophies to its credit, achieved in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons, joins the Spanish teams of Palma, who are looking for their fourth consecutive triumph, and Cartagena, and the French teams of Etoile Lavalloise.

The draw of final four takes place on March 17th, at 11:00 (Lisbon time), in Pesaro.
