The lions’ under-19 team, coached by João Gião, even had an advantage, thanks to a goal from Flávio Gonçalves at the end of the first half.
However, in the first 20 minutes after the break, the Merengues turned the score around with goals from Roberto Martín and Jacobo Ortega.
Sporting thus missed out on their second participation in the final four of this Champions League for young people, after having fallen in the semi-finals in 2023, in a penalty shoot-out, against the Dutch side of AZ Alkmaar.
