Headed by the secretary, David Kershenobich, the Ministry of Health held the first session of the National Committee on Cancer in Women, a collegiate body made up of all institutions in the public health sector, including the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), IMSS Bienestar, the 32 state health secretariats, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) and Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

The objective of the meeting was to reaffirm the commitment to work in a coordinated manner to strengthen the prevention, timely detection and comprehensive care of breast and cervical cancer in Mexico.
In this way, it was agreed to carry out the first approved and permanent sectoral campaign, developed by the Women’s Cancer department of the National Center for Gender Equity and Sexual and Reproductive Health that seeks to unify materials, messages and actions throughout the health system and whose objectives are to have 90% coverage in timely detection. 80% of treatments completed correctly and perform 15 million annual mammograms nationwide.
“Women’s health is a priority of the Mexican State. Only by working in an articulated manner between institutions “We will be able to close gaps, prevent avoidable deaths and guarantee equitable and quality care.”said Health Secretary David Kershenobich.
He said that the consolidation of an integrated system will allow a woman to continue her treatment regardless of the institution in which she started it or her eligibility.
Finally, among the advances presented, the development of the SICAM PLUS system stands out, a digital platform that will allow the monitoring, traceability and consolidation of cancer registries, operating on par with the National Cancer Registry and guaranteeing data sovereignty and security.
