Strikes on the Lisbon Metro without minimum services on April 9th and 14th

Lisbon Metropolitan workers will go on strike for two days in April, the first this Thursday, the 9th, and the second next Tuesday, the 14th.

For the two 24-hour strikes, no minimum services were decreed, in accordance with the decision of the Arbitration Court (TA).

“In accordance with the above, this TA decides, unanimously: Not to set minimum services for workers covered by the strike notice; Determine the provision of services appropriate to the safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities, under the following terms: three workers at the Central Command Post (preferably, a Movement Inspector, a Movement Supervisor and a Control and Energy Room Manager), duly identified by the unions (name and ML number)”can be read in Economic and Social Council (CES) portal.

“In view of the factual data presented to us, we believe that, despite the undeniable hardship that the strike causes for regular users of the Lisbon Metro, the essential conditions for establishing minimum services are not met, requiring only compliance with the safety obligation, under the terms of article 537, no. 3, of the Labor Code”is explained in decision released by CES.

Still, Metropolitano de Lisboa has not yet published any information on this matter.
