Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse has received a commitment from 2027 athlete Sa’Niro Brooks, it announced Saturday.
Brooks plays running back and strong safety for national power St. Frances (Baltimore), who won the national championship in overtime last season. The 5-11, 195-pounder is listed as a three-star recruit 247 Sports.
Brooks had Power Four offers from Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota, Rutgers and Pittsburgh, his hometown school.
“Thank you Coach Fran and the Syracuse coaching staff for the opportunity to continue playing the game I love the most,” Brooks said social media. “I want to thank my parents and family for their support and I also want to thank all my coaches who played a major role in my growth and development.”
Brooks is ranked as the No. 21 running back in the country and No. 437 player overall. He comes to Syracuse following the departure of Baltimore native and former assistant running backs coach Devin Redd.
Syracuse workers begin hooking up to the St. Frances after landing three-star linebacker Maurice Medley in the 2026 class. The Orange also offered tight end Mike Nnabuife and quarterback Elijah Butler and hosted Panthers 2027 class defensive lineman Maddox Fackel last spring.
Syracuse is up to 10 commitments in the 2027 class as of Saturday, the Orange’s Junior Day. Syracuse’s 2027 ranks fifth in the nation behind Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Of the 10 Orange hires, nine are three-star recruits. Erie (Pa.) offensive lineman Edwin Guzman is unrated.
