Brazilian artist Tatiana Cobbett, who divides her life between Portugal and Brazil, is among the finalists at MATE Festival 2025, an event dedicated to experimentation in video, sound and performance, which takes place from October 23rd to 26th, in Coimbra. The artist competes with Thresholda video performance recorded in Lisbon and which investigates the moment of passage between the unknown and recognition.
The work was born during the artistic residency There and Herea project that brings together Portuguese and Brazilian creators in joint experiences of music, body and image. In the video, which is just under five minutes long, Cobbett provides vocals and composition, accompanied by Pedro Loch on guitar, Bernardo Couto on Portuguese guitar and Francisco Gaspar on bass. Filming and editing are by Bruna Buniotto, and executive produced by Michel França.

“Threshold it is the place where we recognize ourselves when crossing the new. Between two worlds, I realize that the threshold is also a space for creation, listening and reunion”, explains the artist. Born in Santa Catarina, Tatiana Cobbett began her career as a dancer at Balé Stagium and built an artistic path that crosses dance, music and words. Nowadays she lives between the two countries and has presented performances that dialogue with themes of identity and affection, such as Sock Face and the Soiree of Affections – Poetic Voices in Communion.
Created in 2016 in Porto Alegre (RS), the MATE Festival establishes a bridge between Brazil and Portugal in Coimbra and presents works that explore the borders between artistic languages. This year’s full schedule and ticket information is available on the event’s official website, available Neste Link.
